  • The unit casing is treated for protection against corrosion prior to the application of the attarctive gray-green, baked-on polyester powder coat paint finish.
  • Horizontal air deflector blades are standard (vertical deflector blades are available).
  • Low outlet temperature models are recommended for steam pressure above 30 PSI, but can also be used in dirty environments to minimize biuldup of air contaminants on the coil.
  • Modine PTN models feature coils made from cupro-nickel tubes that have extra strength to withstand higher steam pressures (250 PSI) or water temperatures (400°F).

The performance of Modine’s Power-Throw™ (PT) unit heaters is characterized by a powerful, high-velocity air delivery system ranging from 1,860 to 2,520 cubic feet per minute. Consequently, these heavy-duty units are recommended to heat areas around frequently-opened large doors or wherever exceptionally long horizontal “heat throw” is required over wide areas and where sound minimization is not critical.

In warehouses and large industrial buildings, a few Power Throw heaters can often replace a larger number of conventional horizontal delivery units, resulting in equipment and piping cost savings. Adjustable horizontal air deflector blades are standard.

Modine’s upgraded PTN models provide the same features and application versatility as the conventional PT models and more. Since the PTN unit heaters have coils made from cupro-nickel tubes, they have extra strength to withstand higher steam-pressures or water-temperatures, and corrosive steam or water conditions.

ELECTRIC UNIT HEATERS

Modine HER-Series

HER-Series: Electric, Horizontal Delivery Unit Heaters (17,100 – 85,400 Btu/Hr).

Features include:

  • Deflector blades can be adjusted to lengthen or shorten heat throw as well as direct heated air up or down.
  • Optional vertical deflector blades deflect air either to the left or right, permitting complet directional control over air discharge.
  • Terminal and junction boxes provide easy access to: heating-element terminals, overheat control switch, the unit’s power supply and control connections.
  • Motors are enclosed and protected from thermal overload.
  • Fans are statically and dynamically balanced.
  • An automatically re-setting overheat control interrupts the power supply to the heating elements in the event of overheating. This control resets once the element is at a safe temperature.
  • Fan and motor assemblies are exposed and can be removed without lowering the unit heater.

Modine electric unit heaters provide a wide variety of options in solving comfort-heating problems. Each is designed for long heat-throw, uniform heat-delivery and reduced maintenance. Horizontal models feature hinged bottom panels for easy control access and are recommended for use in buildings where ceilings are low and with few obstructions. These models are normally placed around the perimeter of the building so that the air stream from each heater “wipes” the wall to produce a blanket of warm air along the building’s outside walls where heat loss is greatest.

Modine Power-Throw™ (PTE-Series)

PTE-Series: Power-Throw™ Electric, High-Velocity Horizontal Delivery Unit Heaters (102,000 – 171,000 Btu/Hr).

Standard features include:

  • Factory assembled and wired to a specific power supply.
  • Finned-tube sheathed nichrome wire heating elements.
  • Totally enclosed motor with thermal-overload protection.
  • Fans are statically and dynamically balanced.
  • The fan and motor assemblies are exposed and can be removed without lowering the unit heater.

Modine electric unit heaters meet the total heating requirements in most industrial plants, commercial and recreational buildings, and in special-purpose structures such as animal shelters. The features that make them the ideal selection for these types of buildings are long heat-throw, uniform heat delivery, and low installation and maintenance costs. Located up and out of the way, unit heaters beam heat down into work areas to provide clean, safe, economical heating comfort.

Where there is a requirement for air velocity and heat throw greater than can be provided by horizontal delivery models, Power-Throw™ (PTE) unit heaters should be considered. For hard-to-heat areas, such as in the vicinity of frequently opened loading docks or large warehouses, PTE units are an ideal choice. Due to the higher velocity of discharge air, their air streams should not be directed at room occupants. A single PTE unit heater can often be used to replace as many as three smaller horizontal delivery units, thereby reducing equipment, installation and maintenance costs.
